How to make writing fun.
By Brian Baptista

Research consistently shows that children learn more when they are actively engaged in the learning process and having fun. Activities and methods for getting students excited about writing and then helping them get the words on the page can be a daunting task. Hence making writing fun for students plays a vital role.

Here are the 7 tips on how to make writing fun.

1- Make an activity of forming words and letters on the mirror, sand, water, etc. This will let a student grow keenness towards alphabets, letters, and words.
2 - Playwriting games.
3 - Encourage them to write birthday wishes, frequent letters, and postcards.
4 - Ask them to pen down their favorite stanzas, stories, or phrases.
5- Ask them to write while you dictate or speak.
6- Organize writing competitions.
7- Illustrate. Some students become discouraged when they write because they just can’t get their ideas across.

Give them another aspect to communicate by asking them to illustrate their story or thought. When students know they can include a picture to share their thoughts, their inability to express exactly what they want in writing becomes less of an obstacle.

Writing is an important and practical life skill. While developing great writing skills requires a lot of time and patience, you can help your students with these simple writing exercises. Lots of reading, frequent writing time in a special writing area, and incorporating fun writing activities and games will all go a long way to giving writing skills a boost.
